Thumbs up: L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes So Couture Mascara

Let it be known I have a love/hate relationship with mascara. I think I am yet to find ‘the one’, the holy grail, the mascara to end all other mascaras. Recently I was in a bind. I’d finished my beloved, although not so much for its longevity, YSL Faux Cils and moved on to its waterproof counterpart – a complete let down. I didn’t know what to try next but that awful moment came when I ran out. What on earth was a girl to do? Of course the answer is make an impulse purchase in Boots. I had happened across a tweet earlier in the day raving about L’Oreal Million Lashes and I saw the latest incarnation – the ‘So Couture’ version. So I picked it up. I was ready to loathe it like all other high street mascaras. But no. Oh no ladies, my mind has been changed. L’Oreal has done the unthinkable and has made me a fan of a readily available high street mascara.

The packaging isn’t fancy, but its functional. The wand is plastic – something I didn’t think I’d like, having decided eons ago that I was a strictly a fan of the brush wand. But no, I have been converted to the other side. The tube has a fancy excess product strippery thing (Do these things have proper names?) so your wand is not overloaded with product. The formula is nice – not too liquid, not too dry. A perfect balance. There are lots of spiky bits which help to give my lashes a good coating of mascara. The product lengthens, volumises and defines. For the regular every day, think fluttery lashes, one coat will do. For a bit more drama, I choose two. It doesn’t flake or clump. It lasts all day. It’s as black as black can be. And I have yet to poke my eye out with the wand – it is a sensible size you see.

Removal is easy peasy – I start off with my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and finish with my Garnier Micellar Water. If I’ve gone overboard, I’ll use my Garnier Eye Make Up Remover but this is a rare occurrence. I also haven’t woken up with panda eyes to date. I am in awe. Wondrous, wondrous awe. I am a convert. And I can buy two for the price of one YSL mascara. Kerching.

At the time of writing this is priced at £10.99 and is on a buy one get second item half price deal at Boots and 3 for 2 at Superdrug.

Rating: 5/5 kisses!
